Meta just announced the release of their new AI model, SAM Audio, a feature powered by Segment Anything Model 3.
Think of SAM Audio as Photoshop, but for audio. With this model, users are able to isolate certain sounds in recordings, from podcasts to songs, and edit them accordingly.
The model officially went live on December 16.
What Features Does SAM Audio Have?
SAM Audio gives users three fast, convenient ways to isolate certain noises in recordings. Sounds can be isolated by typing the sound they want isolated (e.g., car honking), clicking on the object/person whose sound they want to isolate, or selecting the timeframe during which the noise is made.
Once a sound is isolated, the user can then:
- Remove the noise completely
- Lower or raise its volume
- Polish / clean up the audio
- Add special sound effects (e.g., Telephone, Robot, etc.)
- Export the isolated sound to use in other recordings
As a unified model, SAM Audio can work with virtually any medium that contains sound. This includes films, TV shows, vlogs, recorded live performances, songs, interviews, podcasts, and more.
