Anthropic’s Latest Funding Round Brings in $65 Billion

Anthropic’s Series H funding now brings the company’s valuation to $965 billion, surpassing OpenAI.

Anthropic regularly holds funding rounds to support the company’s rapid expansion. The latest funding round, Series H, comes just in time for the release of Claude Opus 4.8, Anthropic’s newest AI model with improved collaboration and honesty. Series H raised $65 billion, giving the company plenty of funds to keep advancing AI technology.

Many Partners Step Up to Fund the AI Company

The $65 billion raised from Series H now values Anthropic at $965 billion, making it surpass OpenAI’s valuation of approximately $850 billion.

Anthropic’s funding round was led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital. It also included Capital Group, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, GIC, ICONIQ, and XN as co-leads.

$15 billion of the funding came from previous hyperscaler investments, including $5 billion committed from Amazon. Other major investors in this round included AMP PBC, Baillie Gifford, Blackstone, Brookfield, D.E. Shaw Ventures, DST Global, Fidelity Management & Research Company, General Catalyst, Insight Partners, Jane Street, Lightspeed Venture Partners, MGX, NTTVC, NX1 Capital, Situational Awareness LP, T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., T. Rowe Price Investment Management, Inc., and Temasek.

Micron, Samsung, and SK hynix played a crucial role in Anthropic’s support since the technology from these companies supplies memory, storage, and logic chips worldwide. Relationships with these companies can help Anthropic accurately scale Claude as the demand for the AI platform grows.

What Will These Funds Be Used for?

Billions of dollars is a lot to spend, but Anthropic has big plans for Claude’s future. The demand for Claude has grown significantly since the last funding round, especially for global enterprises using Claude for core operations. Anthropic has expanded Claude’s capacity by signing deals to have the AI model available on Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, making it the first frontier model to appear on all three of those major cloud platforms.

As Claude expands, Series H’s funding will focus on improving safety and interpretability research, making it a more reliable platform for major companies. With $65 billion raised, there’s lots of room for Claude to advance beyond the capabilities of other AI models.
