SpaceXAI and Cursor released Grok 4.5 on July 8, 2026, with immediate availability outside the European Union. EU availability is expected in mid-July. The launch introduces a new competitor in the growing market for AI systems designed to complete multi-step workflows with minimal human input.
Grok 4.5 can handle software engineering, office work, data analysis, and legal work. It was trained to recognize when a problem requires deeper analysis, use the appropriate tools, recover from setbacks, and check its results before completing a task.
Its capabilities push Grok 4.5 closer to completing larger portions of assignments autonomously, rather than assisting with individual steps.
Inside Grok 4.5
Grok 4.5 is designed to work through lengthy technical tasks from a single prompt. It uses multiple steps and continued reasoning to reach results in engineering, software development, scientific research, and other complex fields.
SpaceXAI says the model was trained using data filtered for quality and hundreds of thousands of technical tasks. Running those tasks across tens of thousands of NVIDIA GB300 GPUs enabled the developers to train the model on numerous problems simultaneously, improving how efficiently it reaches results.
The joint training also included trillions of tokens of Cursor data generated through real coding workflows by developers and AI agents. That gave Grok 4.5 experience working through technical problems, rather than only learning from completed code.
SpaceXAI demonstrated Grok 4.5 creating working applications from a single prompt with minimal direction. In Grok Build, the model can conduct web research, produce complex Excel models, draw diagrams, and draft original content in Word.
The focus on practical, applied work positions the model to take on a more autonomous role in the workplace.
The most important thing about Grok Build and the 4.5 release is that it is genuinely so useful for real-world work https://t.co/vdgLA93Dq4

Speed and Price Give Grok 4.5 an Edge
Grok 4.5 raises the stakes for speed and efficiency, competing with frontier models while offering competitive API pricing.
SpaceXAI says the model generates around 80 tokens per second and can use fewer output tokens than comparable models on similar tasks. On SWE-Bench Pro, Grok 4.5 averaged 15,954 output tokens per task. In comparison, Opus 4.8 at its maximum reasoning setting required over 4 times as many.

Grok 4.5 costs $6 per million output tokens and $2 per million input tokens via the SpaceXAI API. Combined with the lower token use, Grok 4.5 could make advanced AI agents more economical to deploy across longer, more complex workflows.
