Alphabet’s Bond Sale Raises $32B to Fund AI Efforts

Google’s parent company plans to spend $185 billion on AI this year, so they launched a major bond sale to help.

Alphabet is expected to spend $185 billion this year on AI intelligence, which is double what it spent last year. Due to the major increase in spending, the company had to find new methods to support the AI infrastructure, which led to a massive bond sale that keeps growing. As of February 12th, 2026, Google’s parent company has raised $32B in bond sales, making an impressive effort toward its AI funding.

Alphabet’s Ambitious Bond Sale

Alphabet initially kicked off its bond sale with the expectation of raising $15 billion, but it quickly exceeded that by raising $20 billion, leading to the biggest US bond sale ever. To build on that success, the company then introduced deals in the UK and Switzerland.

One of the most notable offerings in Alphabet’s sale is an “ultra-rare” 100-year bond. This is the first of its kind since the 1990s. While this bond can be great for investing in long-term projects, taking a century to mature is a risk for the company buying it.

Alphabet ended up raising $32 billion after turning to Switzerland markets, and if buyers keep showing up, the amount could continue to grow. This is a huge win for Alphabet considering the ambitious plans they have for funding AI this year.

The Future of AI for Google

Alphabet experienced its strongest quarter ever in 2025 Q4. A big part of that win was Gemini and AI Mode growing. Since AI Mode’s launch in Google Searches, queries per user doubled and users began focusing on longer, more complex queries that led to follow up questions. Alphabet will likely be trying to grow these AI tools as much as possible in 2026, using funds to improve infrastructure to support the rapidly rising AI use.

The company has also talked about experimenting with monetization in AI Mode. This could include incorporating ads below AI responses and adding checkouts directly into the AI. This could help the company profit from AI while making purchasing products easier than ever for users.

Consider AI in Brand Marketing

Alphabet is putting a lot of money into AI efforts this year, and they’re not the only company to do so. Many people use AI chats daily, making them a popular place for people to discover new products. If your brand isn’t considering AI optimization in your marketing strategies, you could be missing out on a major part of your audience.
