YouTube is Cracking Down on Low-Quality AI Channels

“AI slop” will no longer take over YouTube’s top 100. CEO Neal Mohan is making an effort to reduce low-quality AI content.

Ever since AI’s rapid rise in popularity, low-quality AI content has popped up everywhere. YouTube is one of the biggest platforms that has fallen victim to this. Many channels exist only to post what the internet deems as “AI slop.” Despite the low effort put into these videos, there are many channels like this that have millions of followers.

While YouTube isn’t opposed to AI content altogether, it has started getting stricter with the type of videos it allows. In the past, YouTube has said that it would crack down on inauthentic content, which led to it removing channels that created AI movie trailers. Now, the platform is focusing more on this by taking down channels that only post low-quality AI videos.

Identifying Low-Quality AI Videos

Kapwing conducted a study on November 28, 2025 to identify the most popular AI slop channels on YouTube. The research found that Spain, Egypt, and the U.S. were the countries with the most low-quality AI channels in the top 100, indicating a high number of people subscribing to these channels.

Overall, these were the channels with the most subscribers:

  • Cuentos Facinantes (5.95 million subscribers)
  • Imperio de Jesus (5.87 million subscribers)
  • insanespidey (5.30 million subscribers)
  • Jama Stories (4.51 million subscribers)
  • MonAI (4.44 million subscribers)

Even though these channels post different types of content, they all have one thing in common: low-quality AI. This content is generated quickly and meant to capture your attention. Despite the low effort put into these channels, they frequently compete with handmade content that people put a lot of thought and effort into.

YouTube Fights AI Slop

In a 2026 newsletter from YouTube CEO Neal Mohan, he listed “managing AI slop” as one of the priorities for the year. Mohan acknowledged that while YouTube is an open platform for expression, he wants to maintain the high-quality viewing experience people want.

YouTube is working to combat spam and clickbait, ensuring low-quality, repetitive content doesn’t spread. YouTube has already taken down some of the most popular AI channels mentioned in the Kapwing research. This includes Cuentos Facinantes, which posted low-quality Dragon Ball-themed videos, and Imperio de Jesus, which focused on faith-based AI content.

While many AI channels have disappeared altogether, others are still up but have no videos anymore. One example is Super Cat League, which posted AI-generated cat videos. It’s unclear if YouTube deleted the videos off the page or if the channel took them down first.

Throughout the year, we will likely see YouTube continue to remove low-quality AI content since it doesn’t add value to the site and takes away from other popular channels.

Use AI the Right Way

AI shouldn’t be used to replace human-made creative projects. Yet, it can be a great tool to help make tasks easier. While YouTube isn’t allowing AI to compete with real people, many are using AI to help gather information and make everyday activities easier.
