When Meta acquired AI company Manus at the end of 2025, it caused suspicions that something big was coming for Meta’s AI features. Now, we’re getting some confirmation of that from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg during Meta’s latest earnings update. Zuckerberg discussed the future of AI for the company, hinting that an AI rollout is on the horizon.
Zuckerberg Teases AI Commerce Tools
During the call, Zuckerberg said: “In 2025, we rebuilt the foundations of our AI program [and] over the coming months, we’re going to start shipping our new models and products, and I expect us to steadily push the frontier over the course of the new year.”
He didn’t give a specific timeline or details about the models, but he stated that AI-driven commerce is a current focus for Meta. He said that with new agentic shopping tools, users can more easily find the perfect products.
While many companies have already taken this approach, Zuckerberg believes Meta’s unique access to personal data will set it apart from the competition.
Zuckerberg explained: “We’re starting to see the promise of AI that understands our personal context, including our history, our interests, our content, and our relationships. A lot of what makes agents valuable is the unique context that they can see, and we believe that Meta will be able to provide a uniquely personal experience.”
What Does This Mean for Meta?
Zuckerberg seems to have ambitious goals for the future of AI and Meta, but if done correctly, this could lead to the most personalized AI experience out there. Using the personal data on Meta, the AI could potentially understand people’s personal goals to more accurately tailor feeds to what they’re looking for.
However, personal data is only one piece of the puzzle. The accuracy and features of Meta’s AI will play a huge role in how successful it is. Zuckerberg has mentioned using AI to create extremely accurate shopping experiences and interactive media formats. He believes as Meta’s platforms learn about users, AI can shape and change the way we engage online.
Meta’s smart glasses may help with this as they grow in popularity. Having an always-on AI companion gives Meta a glimpse into people’s lives that other platforms don’t have. Now that Meta is working with Manus, they also have the AI technology needed to grow.
But is all this enough to make Meta stand out in the AI world? Since there aren’t specific details yet, only time will tell. If executed well, Meta’s AI could be huge. But there’s always a risk that it could get lost among the sea of other popular AI platforms.
