Story

Following the Farm Bill of 2018, certain hemp-derived THC products became federally legal, opening the door for compliant direct-to-consumer commerce. Budclub, one of California’s largest cannabis growers, had historically focused on wholesale and retail, but saw an opportunity to activate DTC as social platforms began loosening restrictions on THC and CBD advertising.

The Challenge

Budclub entered DTC in a highly regulated category with limited existing infrastructure in place. Early-stage tracking, attribution, and creative foundations needed to be established quickly to support scalable growth.

Cannabis advertising also comes with strict platform policies that limit messaging and creative flexibility. To succeed, Budclub needed a compliant strategy that could move fast, adapt quickly, and scale efficiently across paid channels.

Bud Club entered DTC with no prior store history, no creative assets, no pixels, and no attribution infrastructure, while operating inside one of the most tightly regulated consumer categories.

We built the foundation from scratch, setting up attribution, server-side tracking, analytics, and email automations to support compliant growth. This enabled Bud Club to activate DTC quickly and capture demand as platforms began loosening restrictions on THC and CBD advertising.

GenAI Creative at Performance Velocity

With no existing creative to work from, we generated and launched over 350 GenAI creatives in under three months, spanning AI influencer video, statics, animated assets, and multiple personas.

By launching hundreds of ads per month across Meta, Snap, and AppLovin (Axon), we identified winners quickly and scaled what performed. The result: $746K in total sales, a 2.4x ROAS, 6% CTRs, and $0.32 CPCs on Meta, driving profitable growth from $0 to multi-six-figure monthly revenue in under 90 days, entirely through GenAI creative.
